KaPACS RIS

KaPACS RIS – (Radiological Information System) – this allows for the management and control of medical documentation in diagnostic imaging laboratories.
It enables the collection and processing of patients demographic details, description of medical examinations, referrals, reports intended for health care unit procedures and external settlements and statistics.

KaPACS RIS system functionality

  • Technology clients – server

Owing to this technology, the system can even be used through an Internet browser. It is not necessary to install any additional programming. Additionally, the system can also be facilitated by a number of users, without any interference in each other’s work.

  • WorkFlow Module

The only system in Poland which possesses an implemented WorkFlow system. It allows for the modelling and running of any selected process within the diagnostic laboratory /unit and for the implementation of automatic steps as part of (health care unit) processes.

  • Planners

Defined individually for every single unit. This enables the creation of backup lists, colour coding based on medical examination status and the use of the drag-and-drop functionality, which facilitates the registration of medical examination results. The KaPACS system Planner is ready to work in ‘Call Center’ mode.

  • diagnostic description patterns

Physicians are able to create their own diagnostic description patterns, making the process faster. The patterns can be edited with the use of an intuitive interface.

  • Rich Text Editor

The panel used for creating descriptions enables free formatting of the description text, which positively influences its legibility.

  • A wide range of coding vocabularies

We have equipped the KPACS system with a variety of coding vocabularies in order to make the personells’ job easier and facilitate settlements with the national health service. Amongst others, the following coding vocabularies (ICD9, ICD10), coding vocabularies, employing and describing physicians, for materials used during medical examinations they are fully editable, with some possessing the ability of changing the version.

  • Mechanisms for the verification of input data

When inputting large amounts of data, errors may occur, this is why the KaPACS system verifies some of them. In case of detecting any discrepancies, it sends an appropriate message to the user.

  • peripheral cooperation

The KaPACS system allows for the corporation with external devices (document and barcode printers, barcode readers, flat scanners and more advanced devices (digital Speechmike type dictaphones and Voice recognition systems)

Barcode printers and readers allow for an efficient search through the system in order to locate medical examination results and their descriptions. They facilitate the management of documentation and accelerate the creation of medical examination descriptions with a faster transfer of these to the patient.

Flat scanners enable the implementation of KaPACS data into the system, which is delivered to the patient in paper form.

Digital dictaphone is are used in order to store medical examination descriptions in the form of audio recordings, enabling these to be re-played at a later date.

The voice recognition system works similarly to the digital dictaphone.

  • Image reference viewer

It allows any user to access image data from the PACS system. It takes just one click to display the image in the selected format.

  • integration with hospital systems

The implementation of the HL7 standard service allows for the integration of the KaPACS system with any selected hospital system operating within the given health care unit. This integration includes the transfer of references for medical examinations, the possibility of changing the status of the medical examination through the hospital system and access to links to medical examination imaging in selected cases.
